Dr. Ahcene Lahsasna was born in Algeria. He is currently a lecturer at the Shatriah and Legal Studies department at INCEIF and Graduate Studies advisor in the same University.
He received a Bachelor’s degrees in Islamic law and Islamic Jurisprudence from the Islamic University Emir Abd Kadir, (Constantine, Algeria). He began his postgraduate studies in Shariah and the Arabic language in Damascus, Syria before moving to Malaysia to complete Master’s and Ph.D degrees in Islamic Law & Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh and Usul Fiqh) at IIUM. He lectured at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia on Shariah and law, the Faculty of Business and Accountancy at the University of Malaysia on Islamic finance, and the School of International Business and Finance at the University of Malaysia Sabah, Labuan on Islamic finance regulation and governance.
He worked for several years at the Manufacturer and Exporter group of companies in Malaysia as International Marketing Manager, and headed the Documentation Department. He is a member of the Shariah Committee for Maybank Islamic and Etiqa Takaful, and Shariah advisory member for the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC). He has written extensively on many Islamic financial issues and his last two books, Q&A in Islamic finance and Introduction to fatwa and Shariah governance are under publication.
