Douglas Knowling is the retired Senior Vice President and Head of Global Support at RGA Reinsurance Company. He was responsible for leading a multifunctional global team whose aim is to help RGA’s business units grow profitably. The Global Support Team provides expertise and services through seasoned professionals with diverse backgrounds including actuarial, claims, medical, predictive analytics, research, and underwriting.
Doug joined in 2001 as the Corporate Actuary, focusing on risk management, economic capital, and corporate pricing standards. He served in that role until his promotion to Chief Actuary, U.S. Mortality Markets, a position he held from 2005 to 2014. Prior to joining RGA, Doug was a Principal in the St. Louis office of Tillinghast –Towers Perrin.
Doug received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and a frequent speaker at industry meetings.
