Mark Showers Named a 2010 Elite 8 Insurance Technology Leader by Insurance & Technology
ST. LOUIS, October 28, 2010 – Mark Showers, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (NYSE: RGA), has been named a 2010 Elite 8 insurance technology leader by Insurance & Technology. Showers was recognized for his ability to solve problems, deliver effective and innovative solutions, and strengthen RGA’s IT workforce.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition from one of the insurance industry’s leading authorities on business and technology issues,” said Showers. “Yet much of the credit for RGA’s technology improvements should be directed to RGA’s IT team. The group has been working extremely hard, particularly in the past 12 months, to operate as a global, cohesive unit to successfully implement several major technology initiatives and infrastructure improvements.”
Showers will receive the award at the Insurance & Technology's 12th Annual Executive Summit held Nov. 7-10, 2010 at The Boulders Resort & Spa in Carefree, Ariz.
Showers joined RGA in 2009 after spending more than 25 years at Monsanto Company in St. Louis, Mo., where he retired as Chief Information Officer. In 2007, he was named one of the Premier 100 Leaders in Information Technology by Computerworld magazine. He holds undergraduate degrees in mathematics and chemistry from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, a master’s degree in physical chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis, and an Executive M.B.A. from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis.
