RGA Reinsurance UK Limited was established in 1999 and received a full license to offer reinsurance products in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands in 2000. The subsidiary became RGA’s second-largest revenue producer in 2004. Leveraging RGA’s innovative ideas and extensive expertise in the protection market, the company is a recognized reinsurance leader in the United Kingdom, and in 2007 was named “Large Insurer’s Reinsurer of the Year” in Redmayne Consulting’s annual survey of U.K. clients.

The U.K. office offers traditional mortality and critical illness reinsurance for all distribution channels, and has been instrumental in working with clients to take these propositions into alternative distribution areas aimed at new customer segments, often requiring innovative approaches to underwriting and proposition delivery. The U.K. team’s underwriting manual is now being adopted by local clients, and RGA’s automated underwriting platform, AURA®, is seen as market-leading technology that been adopted by several clients, including the U.K.’s largest protection writer.

The U.K. office also offers payout annuity reinsurance, and is now one of the market leaders in underwritten payout annuities. The U.K. team leverages services and capabilities from other RGA operations, especially the Capital Motivated Reinsurance team, in delivering customized solutions to our clients’ risk and capital management needs. We also offer reinsurance on a group life basis to either employers or affinity schemes.
